Joram Schurmans is currently planning a new furniture exposition for RAM. He founded RAM furniture in 2004 but was thinking of designing his own furniture since the age of sixteen. May 2005: Attends the furniture fair ‘ICFF’ in New York.
April 2005: Exposition of first furniture collection in Gent. Joram Schurmans, finalist in the 2004 national bussinessplan competition NFTE Belgium. summer 2004: design and realisation of an office for coöperation “Startpunt” Gent. Februari 2004: Start of RAM furniture design and realisation. Works in workshop for restoring antique chandeliers. Follows various courses with Chris Arnold in England, a profesional furnituremaker and antiquerestorer. First design, a kitchen in Oregon pine, Mdf and blue stone. Plays the leading role in two short films of Bavo Defurne and is photomodel for Dirk Bikkkembergs. Aprenticeship cabinetmaking with Marc Hoppenbrouwers from the age of sixteen. Follows arts in highschool and plays theatre and circus as a hobby.
